Paralegal – Matrimonial and Family Law
The Colwell Law Group is a fast-paced, rapidly growing law firm with multiple beautiful locations in Guilderland, Saratoga, and Syracuse, New York. We have an opening for an experienced Paralegal with the ability to perform delegated substantive legal work. The ideal candidate is an experienced, friendly, and detail-oriented paralegal comfortable having frequent contact with attorneys, legal staff, clients, vendors, and courts. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as be part of the support staff team.

Responsibilities
- Administrative and clerical duties such as: answering phones, drafting and preparing documents, organizing files, and tracking appointments and billing
- Meeting billable requirements and goals
- Completing tasks assigned by attorneys
- Meeting deadlines
- Managing attorney’s calendars
- Electronically filing court documents
Qualifications
To be considered for this position the candidate should possess the following skills/experience:
- Law firm experience, a minimum of 2 years of paralegal experience
- Knowledge of software (i.e. Clio, Westlaw, Lexis, etc.) and understanding of a multi-line phone system preferred
- Understanding of deadlines as provided by the court and supervising attorneys and the ability to self-prioritize multiple assignments consistent with those deadlines
- Experience in drafting matrimonial documents
- Strong writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and opposing counsel are required
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and take direction when given, while being in a stressful, fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Must be excellent in time management and multitasking
- Must be a team player
Compensation
$40,000 – $60,000 yearly
